What is so special about this house?
The Pentwater House was originally built in 1868. It is a historic building that hosted the very first indoor plumbing in all of Pentwater. You can still see which rooms of the house were in the original building. Later additions were added to accommodate its role as a bed and breakfast.
For years it was known as the Candlewyck House, named after a popular quilting stitch.
Our family has been coming to Pentwater for over 60 years. We outgrew a family cabin on a nearby lake. When the Candlewyck became available, we fell in love with its charm and history. We love a good project! As we set out to refresh the home while keeping true to its character, we decided it needed a fresh name. We always referred to it as the Pentwater House, and it stuck.
We love the town — the busy summers with lots of people, but also the quieter falls with apples and long walks, and even the snowy winters when you can light a fire, sip cocoa and, if you are lucky, unwrap gifts over the holidays.
We hope you enjoy the house as much as we do.
